In the interest of attracting newcomers, GC CATS will start juniors (7-13 year olds) shortly after graded races from May to September and before graded races from October - April to avoid the heat.  Junior racing is also available, year round at Nerang circuit from 4pm from March 2012.

Open Races

Open Category 1 and Open Category 2 races are listed on the Australian and State Calendars accordingly. For Queensland check out the roadgrime website which has a lot of information on what is gong on across all clubs.

Information has been posted for the benefit of everyone. For all State sanctioned events please visit the Cycling Queensland website.

Club Combine Agreement

As most members are aware the Logan City Cycle Club, CATS and the Goldstars have linked to together in order to conduct club combine races when the cycling calendar allows. Club combine races are only open to members of a maximum of 3 Clubs plus bona-fide visitors. You enter on the day and there are no clothing restrictions. Club Combines are conducted in place of regular Restricted Opens due to an Open event being conducted within 100kms. If you are not attending an Open event (which we encourage) the Logan Club conducts its racing on a Saturday afternoon and Gold Coast racing is on Sunday mornings so there may be opportunities to race twice in a weekend. The management of the three clubs encourage all of their members to regularly check their club’s website for details.

Steve Davies, President, CATS CC
Andre Bondeson, President, Goldstars CC
Glenn Fordham, President, Logan City CC

A Training Race Simulation is held every Saturday Morning at the Runaway Bay Circuit (organised by Gold Coast Cycling Training Club)

07:00 - All Groups

Please Note: You have to be a club member of the Gold Coast Cycle Training Club to ride in the training format operated by Gold Coast Cycling Training Club.

You should need to be aware that this is not a Cycling Australia (CA) affiliated event and as such  your CA insurance does not cover you for this training ride. While training is not a race - it is race training - the pace is quite high and as such appropriate care and safety precautions need to be adhered with. There is a $3.00 fee to participate per event.

Track Training - Tuesday Nights @ Chandler
Races
Monday, 13 July 2009 22:13

Please be aware that on Tuesday evenings Track training (endurance events only i.e. No Sprint events, Maddisons or Kierins) is held at the Chandler Velodrome in Brisbane. The training events are track endurance events and are run by Wynnam Redlands Cycling Club. $10 covers entry to the event and covers the hiring of the facility and cost of the lights (check out the roadgrime site for more details).

For those of you who wish to get some training in for the upcoming local Friday night racing at the Nerang Velodrome (1 Hope Street, Nerang), cross train, prepare for next years events, or the World Masters later this year, head on up to Brisbane for a 19:00 start.

If you haven't tried track racing before contact me and we can try and set you up with a few sampler sessions at Nerang and you can judge for yourself if you would like to take it further. Having a few sampler session will ensure that you are comfortable prior to any race training.

For those of you who have been 'banned' from Road racing by your significant others Track endurance racing, Pursuits especially, are a very safe option as you can train on a velodrome (away from those pesky cars) and also the likelihood of coming into contact with another rider is unlikely unless they pass you (or you pass them first!!!).

The Chandler Velodrome is part of the Sleemans Sports Centre in Brisbane and is easy to get to from the Gateway Motorway.

Please contact me for further information regarding riders who currently travel up that may be able to assist in getting you there and also if you need to gain access to one of the club track bikes.
