Apologies - Burleigh Worlds - 11 May 2008

For the person that left this comment:

"What a joke, how hard is it to get an email list together and at least let people know its not on. New ringleaders, same fxxxing circus."

I apologise and fair comment. The fault however was mine alone and I would not like his to reflect on the other committee members. You are quite right I should have sent out an email to the CATS list, my apologies for not doing so. I tried my best in getting the message out by ringing up the other clubs and riders that I had contact details for as I do not have contact details for riders from other clubs.

In future I will follow your suggestion.

Robert Craig - Club Secretary

About CATS

Welcome to Gold Coast CATS Cycling Club. We are the fastest growing cycling club on the Gold Coast.

In particular our new memberships include Cafe Club, Club Membership for those new to the sport. Licenses for new riders, children and women members starting at just $60 for the year!

New riders will be interested in our Cycle Sport courses which are aimed at teaching all basic bike skills including:- maintenance, riding in a bunch, riding in traffic and so on.

For the children we run a special "J" Cycle training program that the kids love.

For the more competitive riders we offer a diverse array of terrains and styles of racing. Road Racing, Criterium, Teams Racing, and both Grass and Hard Track Racing in the Summer.

Depth is the cornerstone of our club, with the likes of Danny Clark, Australias most rewarded rider at the world championships, Robbie McEwen, Sara Caragan and Jason Shortis in the ranks. It is not uncommon to see them in our club rides or racing when they are home!

We would love to hear from you whether you are brand new to the sport, returning after a lay-off or a new resident.

CATS - Bike Drive

CATS - Bike Drive

We are preparing to start a program of work with local schools to promote cycling as part of this we will be approaching three schools with a view to establishing a cycling team in each. Given the standard obstacles in getting youngsters involved CATS would like to seek your support. If you have any second Road bikes or Track bikes that would fit youngsters (generally less than 53cm) we wold appreciate either a loan or a donation of the equipment. Also, old items such as spare pedals would be appreciated.

On another note we intend to establish the Track League again in September (subject to finalised details) and would be appreciative of any assistance in the loan or donation of any rack bikes of various sizes. The aim is to promote track cycling with existing riders, women riders and juniors.

If you would like to assist in either of these instances please contact Robert Craig to arrange for collection of your bike/equipment.

Thank you in advance - The CATS Committee

08 June 2008 - Mauri Kautto Memorial Teams’ Time Trial - Grafton, NSW

Please find information and entry forms for this year’s Mauri Kautto Memorial Teams’ Time Trial being run by the Grafton club on Sunday, 8th June 2008.

This is a popular 100k time trial for teams of five riders (four to finish) on an out and back undulating course; fifty kilometers each way from Grafton along the Casino road and back.  The start/finish line is in Turf Street which becomes the Casino Road as it leaves town, adjacent to the Grafton Olympic Pool.

The Teams Time Trial has been held each year for over twelve years and is growing in popularity.  There were over twenty teams in three categories last year and we paid $3000 in prize money.

The event is for open, mixed gender, masters’ and ladies’ categories.  To be viable a category has to have three teams entered.  Mixed gender must have at least two ladies in the team, both of whom must finish. The ladies’ event will be approximately 75 kilometres by request from interested competitors but would need three teams of four or five riders (four to finish) to be held.
