04 May 2009 - Labour Day Ride Roundup PDF
Monday, 04 May 2009 14:20

A group of twenty or so riders participated in the Gold Coast CATS Cycling Club Labour Day recovery ride this morning in absolutely perfect conditions for cycling. The eclectic group of a wide range of ages and well represented by our ladies left the Q Super Store at Mermaid Waters at 7am sharp and headed through Surfers Paradise and Hope Island on its way to Beenleigh via Pimpama. Led out by Gold Coast CATS Club Captain Nathan Berghammer the group maintained a steady pace averaging an easy 30kph for most of the ride.

A beautiful blue sky and a brisk autumn temperature made for a most pleasant ride. A coffee reviver at Beenleigh and some lively discussion as we got to know each other better helped make for a pleasant return ride back to the coast. Most riders achieved the 100km milestone for the morning whilst a certain enthusiastic rider clocked 150kms before hanging up the bike in the garage. We encourage all Gold Coast CATS Cycling Club members and friends to join us on our next club outing as we endeavour to make our club more than just an outlet for racing but a source of non-competitive social riding where camaraderie and conviviality are the cornerstones for forging friendships.
